Not fair Jill Shalvis. Should've left this one for the last. This series is filled with feel-good romance, great friendships and off the chart chemistry! Accidentally on Purpose is sweet, quirky, hot and funny, I had a really good time getting to know Elle and Archer better.

It was apparent in the prior books that they were reluctantly attracted to each other, and that they were both holding back. A go-getter and caregiver, Elle is always there for her friends, giving advice, helping out, working hard But she doesn't really take the time to do anything that's just for her - almost as if she doesn't deserve to be as happy as everyone else.

And Archer And seeing these two try to stay away from each other and failing was epic! And aside from the romance and the attraction between Elle and Archer, there was danger lurking in the shadows. Accidentally on Purpose introduced some new characters, too, from Elle and Archer's common past - and they were not necessarily good news With the added suspense, this story kept me even more at the edge of my seat than the earlier Heartbreaker's Bay novels, as I had to know that Elle would stay safe.

Of course, not everything went according to plan, and there was quite a bit of heartache there for a while, and my heart squeezed in hurt for the characters who were hurting and didn't know what to do to make it better. As always with a Shalvis romance there are some very strong friendships as well, and they are just as important if not more so than the romantic feelings the protagonists have for each other.

I think the friendships are a big part of why I always come back for more, and why I feel so satisfied when I have finished reading - and this was also the case with Accidentally on Purpose. Written in third person, past tense, but with lots of fabulous dialogues, the story flowed evenly, and I was riveted from the first sentence to the last. Now he outright smiled and her breath caught. Damn, stupid, sexy smile. And then there was The Body. Yes, she thought of it in capital letters, it deserved the respect.

He got to his offices in six minutes and came in the back entrance. Joe was standing there waiting for him, looking terrified. Earlier that night he'd faced down a crazy dude with a knife without blinking, but Elle scared him.

Good to know. Pru smiled and took her hand. View all 3 comments. It's complicated. But oh so fun to read. How these two met will captivate you.

Archer and Elle met when she was just a young girl in a situation that warranted some major help. And Archer paid the price. Elle bugged me a bit -- her stubbornness got old after awhile. And Archer, well I really liked the guy. He was the real deal. It's a battle between them before they finally get to the good part - but well worth it.

Jill Shalvis makes it worthwhile. Her writing has always appealed to me. She alwa It's complicated. She always makes me laugh, ooh and aah - maybe after a lot of grumbling, but we always reach the goal. Nov 03, Annie Under the Covers Book Blog rated it really liked it Shelves: read-in , review-requests , arc , ebooks , genre-contemporary-romance , author-jill-shalvis , series-heartbreaker-bay. I immediately liked Elle and Archer separately.

Shalvis has a great way of making you care about her characters and these two might actually be my favorite characters in the series so far. Whenever I read a Shalvis book, I prefer witty banter and sweet romance so the rest is just bonus really. Elle and Archer are both absolute delights.

I loved reading about their time together. In their own ways, they are stubborn people but it was fun seeing them fall for one another in this book. They are definitely my favorite couple in the series so far. Well, so far, this has been my favorite in the series. I loved the characters of Archer and Elle, with all their prickly character flaws included. The supporting characters who are the group of friends in this series really add to the likability of these books.

Can't wait for Spence's story next! This is an entertaining contemporary romance series. Jan 05, Maria Rose rated it it was amazing Shelves: sexy-as-all-get-out , best-of , friends-to-lovers-trope , police-firefighter-ems , fully-reviewed-books , 5-star-reads.

Shalvis recently posted on her Facebook page that Accidentally on Purpose is her st published work. Now, we get to find out what the real story is between these two, in a sexy and entertaining romance that is definitely worthy of starting Ms.

A girl can dream! In the first quarter of the story, through little teases and then recollections from both Elle and Archer, we learn why they act the way they do with each other. Well, perhaps bust is the right word after all, as it was a police bust that first brought them together. A new cop on the beat, twenty-two year old Archer was part of an undercover operation to nab a particularly unsavory character when sixteen year old Elle appeared on the scene.

The child of a grifter, Elle and her older sister Morgan had left their mother and ventured out on their own, and Morgan had taken up with her ex-boyfriend Lars, a man involved in con artistry and jewelry theft. In an attempt to return some of the loot Morgan had taken for herself, Elle walked right into the trap Archer and his men had set for Lars, unwittingly throwing things into chaos. The consequences of that night were far reaching, with Archer leaving his job at the police force, causing an irreparable rift between him and his police officer father.

For Elle, it was a turning point and a chance to get her life on track. Unbeknownst to Elle, Archer had kept an unobtrusive eye on her ever since. Elle might not say it out loud, but she feels that she owes Archer for saving her, and works at repaying him by accompanying him on security jobs where he needs a female accomplice.

The frisson of attraction between them is ignored by both, though their friends are certainly aware of it, without knowing any of their shared history. This turns out to be the red cape waved in front of the bull, and Archer finally reacts. Elle is not that heroine. No one would ever believe the circumstances she came from and only Archer knows her secret.

If anything, that makes her even more hard-shelled around him, not wanting to show any vulnerability. Archer is the quintessential bad-ass hero.

First a police officer, now a security expert, he takes his undercover assignments very seriously. But he also has to convince her to give up her guilt complex over the fallout from the night they met. In doing so, he needs to open the lines of communication both ways, and let Elle be there for him emotionally as much as he wants to be there for her.

Not surprisingly, Elle is leery of any contact and when Morgan shows up again, and this time gets Archer involved, Elle is understandably suspicious. There is a suspenseful subplot running through the story as a result. Laughs abound when this group is together. Spence, in particular, is a person of interest, being a multi-millionaire tech wizard who happens to own the entire building where Elle and Archer work.

Accidentally on Purpose is a sexy, entertaining, and thoughtful romance about letting go of the past and embracing the future. Note: a copy of this story was provided by the publisher for review. And the best thing she can do for him is to stay out of his life.

But Archer feels differently. I have said many times that Jill Shalvis creates the most yummy of heroes. Archer is no exception. My computer is acting up so short review.

I love this book and yes, I recommend it highly. Feb 03, Priyanka rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. I will just never get tired of reading Jill Shalvis's books and recommending them. She is an amazing author and I absolutely love everything she writes. JS has never disappointed me and she didn't with this book either. I was waiting for this book so badly seeing Archer and Elle's chemistry in the previous books and the hints about their shared pasts, just got me excited.

She left here screaming about the zombie apocalypse arriving early. Shaking his head again, he went back to work. Mouth-breathing knuckle draggers. The two men looked at each other and some silent communication happened. Thing One went to her window and looked out. Thing Two, just as nasty-looking as his buddy, stood between her and the door.

She had her laptop open and within reach. She could get an SOS email out, possibly even a text message if she had that screen up. But before she could get her fingers on the keyboard, Thing One lunged close and slammed her laptop shut. She dove for her cell phone but Thing Two was faster, shoving her hard as he wrapped his fingers around the phone.

Off balance, she spun, but not fast enough to avoid crashing into the credenza behind her desk and stumbling on her heels. With her face.

But her phone was on the floor and she stretched for it, just barely grabbing it with the very tips of her fingers, hitting Archer on speed dial. Two legs came into view as she scrambled up to her knees, hopefully leaving the phone connecting to Archer. Pols, a film critic by day, suddenly finds herself pregnant from a one-night-stand with a something year old. Her book takes us through the discovery of her pregnancy, her relationship with the father, Dolan's birth, and how she learned to navigate parenthood.

Pols' description of parenthood are amazingly funny and accurate. With charm and wit she writes about all of the milestones a mother goes through with having a baby-- ultrasounds, morning sickness, birth plans, the birth and an unexpected c-section, nursing, and figuring out how to co-parent with the baby's father. Her writing about how she and her son learned how to nurse had me nodding in appreciation. This is a fun and quick read.

It also reminds us all that parenthood is a trip and families come in all sorts of ways. This isn't the type of book I usually read, but since I'm a new mom and it was an early reviewer book I took a chance. I'm so glad I did! Yes, the part about Mary Pols' one night stand, pregnancy, and birth were fun to read, but kind of in a chick lit voyeristic reality show way. At five foot seven, she was nowhere close to petite but even she barely came up to his shoulders.

She hated that he had such a height advantage during their arguments. And this was going to be an argument. Stupid muscles. You and I both know life sucks golf balls if you let it.

Gotta find the fun somewhere. Nottingham new pants. And I could totally survive without it if I needed to. Elle rolled her eyes. She was still taking what had happened last night personally. She knew everyone in this building, each and every business on the first and second floor and every tenant on the third and fourth floor, and she felt responsible for all of them.
